Surprised no one has mentioned that we should probaly change the name of Swindon, in case it affects the Muslims that live here due to the origins of the name.

Sign of the times I'm afraid.
When I was in Junior school there was a book in the school library called 'Three Little Niggers' it had illustrations of black kids being chased up trees by tigers, etc.
The book itself was harmless, but the word 'Nigger' is obviously offensive and I doubt the book's still there.
Same as the Golliwog badges you could collect by saving tokens off Robertsons jam jars, long gone now as they were offensive to some people.
While I accept that there's a big difference between the word 'nigger' and upsetting muslims (No one's ever given a fuck if Jews are offended|) by writing a story with pigs as main characters, who knows what the young people in 20 or 30 years time think.
Oh, by the way. Did 9/11 coincide with the release of 'Babe', or 'Babe, Pig in The City'? That may be the real reason Osama's pissed............................

In schools they are 1. Not allowed to sing baa baa black sheep and have to sing baa baa coloured sheep. 2. They are not allowed to say and use black boards anymore and if they are still used they have to use green ones instead.
The world, esp the uk, has gone pc mad and it pisses me off. Freedom of speech- you 'avin a laff?

White men can't jump. White men are jumping, out of this country we call home and to pastures new on the continent or elsewhere around the world.

I was shocked but I guess its down to the schools preference. I have known primary schools that won't sing it due to the risk of them being seen unsensitive. Its fookin ridiculous.

Right so some schools are being stupid. That's nothing new. But that's a world away from asserting there's a blanket ban which is somehow imposed on schools by a sinister PC/New Labour conspiracy. Too many people seem to believe these myths of "Schools are banned from [insert "traditional" activity]" which turn out to either be complete fiction or just a few overzealous idiots. If you're looking for schools being genuinely restricted, look at the national curriculum or the climate of fear created by 'elf and safety. Or if you just want to engage in some standard Daily Mail rants based on lazy thinking and half-baked pub talk, carry on with this track.

The problem is that the people who they think could be offended in fact are not, but some busy body thinks that they could be and makes a big hoha out of fuck all. If the killing of Pigs offend people dont move to a large fucking farming country anyway stupid twats

This is nothing new really, I was told a 'kinder' version of Peter and the Wolf at school (a little while ago ) where the duck survived, swimming around in a blissful existence, presumably because as little boys we would be rather sensitive to these things yeah right. When I found out the original ending I was more annoyed I was lied too rather than the duck being eaten...nothing wrong with duck with some orange sauce IMO

I have a similar book called little blacky Sambo that my aunty used to read to me - god I really doubt you would be able to buy it any more!

I loved Golliwogs. Was fun to collect them and back then there was obviously no racist intent. Shame how things have blown well out of proportion over the years.
