It was obvious to anyone at Barnet that we need some srikers, ime sure Cox wouldve won us the game with the chances we created.

If we don't get Cox during the transfer window there's no panic as we can still get a loan signing in if required.
I'd rather we didn't panic buy someone in on a long term deal (e.g. 2 years for Arrieta) and then find out they were crap. But we can only get short term loans (3 months at most) and of course IF we made it to the play-off's said striker may not be eligeble, so we need to be looking long term. I suspect Reading will wait until 11.59pm on Friday to decide, I think it is wrong if a club makes an offer to make them wait a month for a response.....at least give a reply of perhaps yes we will accept unless in between times a better offer comes in but we will be waiting until x time to make a final decision.

I agree with Stroood, I reckon Paynter will get goals once he's given a run and gets his confidence back.
No need to rush ny signings just because the transfer window's closing...

The only problem I have with Peacock is during our last League 1 play off season I wouldn't have had him (or Roberts) anywhere near our team, as he wasn't good enough.
We're supposed to be building a play off chasing squad and I'm not sure if having a player like Peacock in the first team really adds that much.
Having said that I think he'll make a decent squad man, but not week in week out first teamer, so can see why MM wants to offer him an extended deal.

Even though him and Roberts played regularly in a team who finished 2 places above us and in all honesty should have won the final?
Hmmm OK then.

Peacock rather than Hewlett? Yes please.
Roberts rather than Igoe? Difficult, but I prefer Roberts.

In Cox you have a striker who is good enough for The Championship and a side looking to go to the next stage, for us to have any chance of finishing in the play-offs we need Cox or a player of his calibre upfront. Paynter has had plenty of chances and scored only about 7 this season, 3 in one match, dont know how some of you can come close to comparing them in quality and finishing. Paynter has been around the houses and will not improve any further than his standard at present. Cox is hungry for success, young and sticks the ball in the back of the net.

Paynter had a woeful second half at Barnet and I'd have taken him off for Corr rather than Sturrock personally. We'd be playing Rovers tomorrow if we'd had Cox on the pitch on Tuesday.
