Estimated cost will be between 800-1000 quid.
Won't get it back till next Friday, which means I won't be going to Barnet (Although I've managed to borrow my other halfs piece of shit for tomorrows game).
What a fucking downer...........................

Sorry to hear that. Had a few car problems of my own recently, though nothing as costly as yours (thank fuck, sounds like it'd cost as much to fix the car as it did to buy!). Regardless, its always a bitch. Especially if you have to get the bus

Renault Megane. My own fault for buying a froggy motor............. Is that the price from the Renault dealer? If so, go and try a small independent garage, you might be surprised.

Whilst he doesn't do 'mates rates' (The tight bastard) he wouldn't stitch me up.

Although on the 1.6e Megane's you can pick up a second hand engine for less than £200.

Steve - I used to use this forum when I had a Megane, some pretty useful stuff on there including this thread: http://www.coupe-club.co.uk/showthread.php?t=28103Have a search about, there's loads on there about cambelts. It's a forum for Coupe owners, but the engines are the same.

I too have had two froggy cars, and an Italian Car in my lifetime, along with various other nationalities, but the point being, my first froggy car, a Citroen GS Cub, was a fucking demon (until the head gasket went), then the Fiat Uno (don't ask...) was just a piece of shit!
Nowadays, my Renault is running like a dream (except I had to replace the fuel tank two weeks ago)
