...but...Ling has been in his job for what 7 or 8 years.

Last thing we want is another short term manager who is likely to fuck off again pretty sharpish.

And you think if he were a roaring sucess here and a top championship or premiership club offered him the job he wouldnt fuck off? pull the other one!

Who knows, maybe he would but at least he doesnt have track record of doing unlike some of the others mentions.

I think Ling would be more likely to stay than say Allen would!

So your criteria is someone who is unlikley to fuck off?

Quick - call Fatbury or Andy King!

you cant employ managers like that though dv.sturrock had a clause and left.and any manger that is succesfull will attract bigger clubs.its a double edged sword.
the vast majority of mangers are shortish term.so we go for what we can, when we can.forget a year or two along the line.just have a clause in whoever takes charge to cash in if he fucks off

Someone who is decent and wont fuck off.

Someone who will make the club grow the club a bit.

IMO Ling is the most likely to be that man. Just based on the history he has with STFC.

All the others will be on the same gravy train.

Wrong he's been in charge there for 4 years. He was appointed in September 2003. Yes i got bored and did some research on our potential new managers.

T Adams ruled hinself out when he visited Swindon  late Nov?early Dec?

Didn't Chris Casper throw his hat into the ring.....its difficult to judge the job he may be doing at Bury, because  keeping them up might be a decent achievement.

He's a young fella, seems quite bright.....in many ways I'd prefer someone like him to an old sweat like Cotterill or M Adams

Also we took Bert Head from Bury and Bobby Smith.  Head is legendary and Smith was decent ..

Don't think he meets Fitton's criteria but it could be a good punt as you say. I read an article about him and his long time mate who is a sports phycologist bloke and they have done a good job with storing belief in the players at Bury. Someone like that with a bit more money and a better squad could probaby do a decent job. Cheap as well.
