I'm not liking the look of Sturrock getting in a war chest....apparently Ipswich have bid a mil for Norris....who incidentally :king: tried to sign for us, he even went to a pre session training thing.
We know Sturrock and his liking of an old player...who could cut it at CCC level. Ifil Brez Comminges Cox. Cox and Ifil would be the real worry. i honestly thought i had dreamt norris being with us, think it was the same summer that parkin signed. as for 250k for fallon, probably about 100k too high if you ask me but if he comes in and gets them promoted then it's money well spent. if he does sign, that would bring his total fees to about 900k- i dont think thats a fluke.

I disagree, he was used as thr brute force when he came here, but by the time he left (after a lazy season the one before) he was by far and away our best player, strong, powerful and scored goals. The day he was sold I was convinced we would go down

Nothing wrong with that in a centre forward, but if you've not got anything else about you (other than 25 yard wonder overhead kicks in debys) then there is only so far you arte going to go as a player As it is I will love him forever more for that goal

The day he was sold I was convinced we would go down by far and away our best player, yes! ...but I think that says far more about the standard of that team than the actual standard of Fallon. That was our worst team in god knows how many years. Funny, because Ifil played that season and you wouldnt say Fallon was a better a player than Ifil now would you!

Bollocks I'd be horrified if we spent a quarter of a million on a player like Fallon. Fitton has already said we are aiming for the championship and Fallon is not good enough for that level. The big donkey CF is still a staple particularly of teh English game, although you've got the likes of Luca Toni, Nicola Zigic, Carsten Janker and Jan Koller on the continent. Fallon is a good striker at L1 level and so is worth about 250K....should Big Bad Bazza, get his injury sorted and carry on scoring then he could be worth a lot more. I daresay Mr Sturrock will be considering a bid. Difference is, those players can actually play a bit as well. dunno, you seen zigic play? i can see sturrock coming in for ifil and brezovan, not sure about others - there's definitely room for those two to improve further as well IMO.

I reckon Kingy is involved links here, links at Everton and Chief Scout at plymouth. My plymouth supporting boss is really worried, Norris, Buzsacky, Gosling, Hayles, a long list of guys leaving home Park, he's not exactly enamoured with teh prospect of Lukas and Coxy getting them up!

It does seem a bit odd that Valencia paid 13.5 mill for Zigic, but I supose for a champions league regular side, they reckon he might give them something diferent, and they've plenty of money.

Luca Toni is another big fella who appears to be doing a lot better than expected at Bayern. 9 odd goals in 15 domestic games and 6 in 4 in the old UEFA including those 4 goals in one game.
I think with these big fellas a lot depends on the shape and mentality of the side. Crouch at Portsmouth did well feeding off that brilliant loon Prosineki but ended up looking like a turd burger when he arrived at Villa who pumped endless balls to the back of his head.

fallon was a pretty decent player by the time he left us. I didnt think he was that great. Yes he scored a few goals for us etc but he was the best of a very bad bunch that season.

I dont think Sturrock will touch Corr. Not with that back injury.
Still no word on a Plymouth bid for Cox? Im sure they would blow us out of the water.
Of our current players I rekon Ifil/Easton/Brezovan would tempt him most.
It has to be said there is a lot of business going on between Moyes and Sturrock. :|
