ah, the old classic DV slating worked.

Brez was very solid tonight and dealt with just about everything.

presumably this is other than when he nearly rugby tackled aljofree, kicked 2 million balls out of play with a huge slice, fumbled for the goal and dropped a piss easy long range shot at his toes.

Just seen the goal again on ITV, he was nowhere near it.
It was shit defending.
I thought Brez was alot better today, seemed more comfortable with crosses.

I don't but then I don't profess to be a goal keeping coach which you obviously are with your incredible shot-stopping insight  :|

Well I don't see why you are slagging him off for doing absolutely nothing wrong, he played well today and making him the scapegoat again is just stupid!

I'm not making him a scapegoat. I'm a Brez fan, and we didn't get beaten for starters.

I think, as it was the first time I've seen him this season, just I was suprised to see him struggle as I'm still remembering how fucking outstanding he was until last October.

to be fair, glos plays in goal at a decentish standard so i imagine he's got half a clue.

brez was immeasurably better than he has been in the last two games, although his kicking was poor on occasion tonight it was generally okay.

although i recall him punching a cross away once which upset me tremendously

I play in goal at a level in my mind, and my mind is absolutely immense.

Brez has the ability to be an awesome keeper, but if he's not doing it then he's not an awesome keeper. There's no point being brilliant if you're not showing it.

Smith on the other hand has hands or something with other hands sideways.

He doesn't command his area still. Commingues on at least 2 occasions had to hack it out because he failed to race out and claim the over hit through-ball. I also think in the melee for the goal he possibly could have got involved and thrown himself on the loose ball. Kicking was dire.

I thought he played far better than he did in the previous 2 games. I was relieved to see him catching balls again. I think the command of his area will come again soon. Give him time. In 2 games he'll be back to his best.

As his kicking has been said to be poor, why isn't he encouraged to throw the ball more? I seem to recall when he was walking on water last year that he had the ability to throw the ball a long distance and accurately too. Such a throw is more likely to reach its target and allow possession to be retained, instead of route one hoof, flicked on or headed back.

Over to you decentish goalkeepers and self-unprofessed goalkeeping coaches.

I would expect his broken arm would have some kind of impact on the number of times he throws........

In any case he does tend to throw it more than Phil Smith does for example so obviously he is encouraged to give it to the defenders when he can. He seems to openly admit his kicking is his weak point alot so I imagine it is something that improves with confidence, if he's not very confident then he will think about his kicking more which will have an adverse effect on it. It's like anything if you think about it too much you can overcomplicate things.

I expect it to improve as his confidence improves and Tuesday I don't think it was especially bad anyway, most stayed in play and had reasonable distance.

Similarly with his communication, i imagine he's thinking about doing his job right at the moment so is trying not to make any mistakes, not on wider aspects such as talking to defenders etc. Again as his confidence increases so will his communication.

Thank you ... I think.  :?

Looks like he'll be in for a while, due to Smithy's reported hernia problem.  Keep up the good work Brez, get well soon Smithy. Could be handy having M'Bohli around.
