alan, you could quote every law in the book until you're blue in the face - if plod want to nick you, they will.

No bollocks Sonic. The police are there to uphold and enforce the law.

If the law is not being broken then they cannot act. Sure they can advise and cajole but they can't arrest or detain people for doing nothing.

They'd charge either under Road Traffic Regs or Public Order Offences if you'd cut up lairy when they tried to move you on.

I'm not arguing with you for the sake of it PD, I'm just fascinated by what rights the police think they have over law abiding peaceful individuals.

Yes I understand that - tbh my posts were more aimed at practical advice for those who wanted to avoid arrest.

If I didn't "cut up lairy" and I avoided all of threatening behaviour, disorderly conduct, assault or criminal damage - public order offences and I also did not obstruct the Queen's Highway then they would not have any grounds to move me on.

All of which are interesting legal points in and of themselves - but you'll still get nicked if you refuse to move on from the MR when asked to.

I'm well up for an afternoon's conversation with Wiltshire's finest.

And I strongly suspect you will be provided with ample opportunity to do so! Although quite how chatty they'll be once you're in custody is another matter  Cheesy

Alan you would be asked to move if you refused then they will ask again if you refuse again they will arrest you for a public disorder offence and not for standing still. Its cuntish but the way it works

Even more so as it will be seen as a football related offence, any rights you have as a normal citizen go out the window in football circumstances

Maybe they'd arrest him for having a likeness of himself there.

Yes come down to the MR at 2pm. We have a banner (Si has done one and i think a few others are doing one as well). I think we'll be on the grass verge somewhere so we are not impeding any laws or anything. But you should come on down.
