So.............................

The petition's a shit idea then?

FWIW, I think it's a good idea. Don't know how much notice any new owners would take of it but as fans it's one option open to us to at least express our opinion. And yes, I'd have thought it's well within what the Trust should be doing.

Problem is that at the moment things are going well so Sturrock is flavour of the month.....the man himself has said we are well over budget, so once the dust has settled if a deal goes through then we'll have to have a fire sale.....this will probably mean the sale of anything of value in January, maybe a player or three out on loan prior to that.

At the moment we have a decentish squad, but we can't afford their wages.....it wont take much for the fans to turn on Sturrock, with a few bad results.

I've never known such a precarious position in 40+ years  of support.......

Come on Reg. I don't think anyone will turn on Sturrock after a few defeats.

Never underestimate the fickleness of football fans.....take a season like 88/89, Macari had brought Duncan Shearer who had a slow start, a couple of goals by early December dropped to the bench a one win through October and into late Nov.

This was against a backdrop of rumours about all not being well off the field,  and Macari not being around at some matches....either scouting as some had it or sorting out his bookmaking business as others had it.

By the end of Nov crowds had dropped to 5000 and we had dropped to 19th.....there were some who thought Macari should go as he'd lost the plot.  We managed to scrape a couple of wins v Walsall and Shrews both who went down...Shearer started to score, Alan Mac came in and started to score from midfield and we ended up in the Po's.

I vividly recall having words with a few on the Shrivenham Road terrace who thought Macari should go.... :wanker:   he gave us some of the finest moments as Town fans.

Maybe.....I just had faith in the fella, I'd been in the 1600 crowds of 83/84... dragged people along, when 3000 was a good crowd.....to watch us getting stuffed by Torquay and Hereford.   Macari resurrected our club, some people just don't think, rather they just react.....sometimes its justified in this circumstance it certainly wasn't.

They are obviously on about someone else taking the over the club but no-one is saying who they are on about and it's confusing people.
