Another thing I don't like is people coming from other countries and taking up places at Universities etc. that would have gone to more suitable Britons.

The unis get paid a certain amount for every foreign student they have, thus encouraging them to take on more and more making it harder for us to achieve in life!

R4E, huge amounts of english people go to universities, and this country makes a fortune off of foreign students.  In fact if we didn't have the money that they bring in, less english people would be able to do degrees.

Now back to Alan Partridge Cheesy

that'd bollocks i'm afraid.

more english people than ever are going to university nowadays, too many IMO. it's lessening the value of having a degree.

and you clearly know nothing about what you're talking about.

plus, a lot of foreign students are form Hong Kong or China, and pay stupid amounts to go to uni in Britain (£thousands).

I will be voting for the Conservatives probably. Tony Blair seems to chuck money at everything which doesn't necessarily fix problems and Mr Kennedy seemingly makes up policies as he goes along. The government over the years has fucked up the education system and i would like to see this sorted. There are far too many places available at uni and some course requirements are a joke. Blair's plans to pay people to do courses after school has angered me also.

I agree that they have tend to think that chucking money at a problem fixes it!  They have tried this several times in the NHS with different projects and fucked them up big time (the company i work for writes software for the NHS and we have made loads as a result of their incompetance).  They come up with one "golden-plan" only to change their mind again shortly afterwards, in the mean-time wasting large amounts of tax-payers money!

With regards education it has been very mixed.  Early Childhood (pre-school) has improved greatly, mainly as a result of extra money, but does still need further improvement.  I also feel the generl education does need a major sort out but this is mainly because of the National Curriculum.  My girlfriend is an early-years educationalist  so i do get a fair amount of inside knowledge from this.

J1mmy please read the following -

"The following are barred from voting in general elections: members of the House of Lords; convicted prisoners; anybody found guilty of election corruption within the last five years; people with learning disabilities or a mental illness who are incapable of making a reasoned judgement"

Looks like you can't vote BNP after all.    Wink

18 years of Tory rule is teh reason that we are still struggling in some areas.  They can't be let back in again.

I'm voting UKIP...  :?
