And in the home end if they don't give us any tickets. The article in the WD says there will be no police in that eventuality.. sounds like a recipe for disaster

Pathetic short minded decision if taken. We should ban their fans from our ground next year?... saying that we will be in the Championship.   Wink

Yeovil are a well organised football club behind the scenes, but they need a reality check - they're not playing little teams anymore - "bigger" teams will have a higher chance of having the odd fan that likes to throw bricks (sad but true) - well moreso than their days of playing Non-League football anyway.

Judging by Starnes' quotes, I can see this being moved to a midweek in Jan/Feb - No football for us on Boxing Day would be lame.

Or they're just pricing themselves out so they can spend boxing day with their families.

Way to stick up for your own fans, Martyn:

Quote

Swindon's acting chief executive, Martyn Starnes, said: "I think Yeovil have a fair point in terms of the policing costs.

"You can understand that they do not want to take on the sort of policing bill that has been quoted because it is not sustainable."

Could have at least said something more constructive like "Yes I understand, but our own fans want to see the game".

:wanker:

Perhaps Starnes could organise some big screen to beam the game back to the County Ground they could also sell Turkey sandwiches for the festive season and we could all drink in the stands as well, I would still go to that but doubt our board would think of that.  Instead we will be left with the joys of 80's tunes then 90 mins of football then more 80's tunes that Brunel FM will provide.

And might also give us an advantage that we won't be playing as many as the other teams during the festive period...

Course I'll be away anyway, but if I wasn't I'd be pretty damn gutted if I wasn't going to footy on Boxing Day.

Isn't there more the Football League can do to help out with policing issues, they must be able to negotiate with the police force as a whole to make sure costs aren't artificially high?

This is not Yeovil Town's decision, this is a porcine decision, so all the pigs can feast on mincemeat doughnuts and glug port and brandy whilst they're catching all the innocent christmas drunk drivers.  Beers

Yeovil Town can fuck right off. They want to ban all our fans from the boxing day game at Huish Park due to police costs. Bet they don’t ban Millwall or Leeds? Bloody ridiculous. I would encourage all Swindon fans to say fuck you to Yeovil town and maybe boycott the game if not to atleast buy nothing in the ground. Wankers. Its against Football league rules not to allow away fans into games, atleast 10 % of the ground should be given to away fans. In principle I wont go. They don’t want us there therefore they can fuck off and lose the money even if they allow us in. CUNTS.

What??  How are you going to boycott a game that you cant get a ticket for?

And if they do give us tickets then you're not going to go anyway despite the fact you want to - which is the whole reason you're pissed off in the 1st place Shrug

What??

My calculation based on an away sale, out they would get about £33,102 in revenue from us

Just a rough calculation then?

At £40k for Policing they would need over 2000 fans paying £20 each on average to come from Swindon and we all know that won't happen.  It's been classified as a Category A game by the Police and Yeovil cannot do anything to change that.

If it was us being saddled with such a bill then I'd expect us to take the same route as Yeovil are.
