Well everyone slags them off but i'm with BT and find them very good apart from the customer service centre in India.

I get a constant 7 meg download.

me too, i pay for 8 meg and I get 8meg as well as unlimited downloads. And no problems with dropped connection or anything. I'm sure some other places are a little bit cheaper but i like not having any arse-ache with broadband.

BT are very good and offer good 8MB downloads plus unlimeted downloads.

But be very wary of unlimited downloads....they are not what they seem.

EVERY ISp now uses FUP (Fair Usage Policy) and they can vary hugely from ISP to ISP.

AOL is around 40gb per month, BT around 40-60gb per month but some are as little as 4 or 5 gb per month, which means when you have downloaded 4 or 5 gb in one month they will limit your download speeds to on occassions less than 256k at peak time and AOL have been known to limit your speeds 24/7 for one month.

Watch out and read the FUP small print!

I'm with BT, always been fine for me.

I'd avoid any of the "free" broadband suppliers, they throttle the connection so much.
