PORTUGUESE football agents the Castro brothers have started preliminary talks with Swindon Town as the takeover at the County Ground took another new twist yesterday.

The agency, which deals predominantly in young Brazilian talent, told the Swindon Advertiser "first talks" were about to held with the new owners - and admitted they could have some sort of involvement by the end of the season.

Their exact potential involvement remains a mystery, as has much of the recent takeover, but with plenty of foreign talent on their books it would seem they are trying to crack the English market, after previous success in Brazil, Portugal and Russia.

The Castro brothers' major client is Brazilian international and CSKA Moscow striker Vagner Silva Nascimento, better known as Vagner Love.

Love has scored three times for Brazil in 13 appearances and scored CSKA's winner in their UEFA Cup final victory over Sporting Lisbon in 2005.

The Castro brothers are twins and former world-class athletes and their company also deals in sporting autographs, organising concerts and synthetic surfaces.

Dionisio Castro, president of the agency, said yesterday: "I can say there is some involvement, maybe with Swindon."

Former West Brom and Portuguese midfielder Jordao is also an agency partner and he too admitted initial contact with the club had been made.

He told the Advertiser: "First talks are just starting. We can not say a lot more than that.

"You could say watch this space and if things go well maybe we will be involved with Swindon by the end of the season.'' He added: "We have no footballers at Swindon Town at the moment."

An air of mystery has surrounded the Swindon Town takeover after it was revealed that American and former Cork City owner Jim Little is to be the club's new chairman.

Any other details about the takeover have remained conspicuous by their absence with the identity and motives of Best Holdings SGPS S.A, the new owners, still undeclared.

The latest revelations will increase pressure on Town to reveal more about the deal and the future plans for the club.

Take this with a pinch of salt if you like but a friend of mine does some coaching with the youngsters at Swindon and he said that Sturrock has already had 6 Portugese players forced on him which have been tied down on permanent contracts. Apparently Sturrock is very unhappy with the set up and seriously considering his future.

I didn't take him too seriously until I read todays articles about the Castro's involvement and now I am very worried that this very encourgaing start to the season could go pear shaped with Sturrock suddenly leaving the club  Sad

This is what I thought. The "insider" who posted on here prior to the takeover confirmation indicated that it was the Castro brothers.

We're going to lose a very good manager from this, whether it's soon or in the summer when Sturrock's 18 commitment clause expires... they'll appoint Brevett or a "Ramon Diaz" and the rest ........?

I am not one to post these usual bull shit sources.  But my mate is pretty convinced that Sturrock will walk sooner rather than later, as I said I wasn't convinced but after todays article 'the first officially confirming the Castro's (Portugese agents) will be involved' its really worrying after such an encourgaing start to the season that we could lose the best manager we have had in a long time.

previously i was indifferent ot sturrock, however after this seasons displays i can see that things on the field are moving in the right direction. We are playing direct attacking football the like of which i havent seen for years. the players are fully committed and that has to be a godsend after the crap we have put up with over the last few seasons.

if sturrock walks i will be livid.

I think you speak for most of us there Mex.

This article is slightly different to what was said before. Previously I thought the Castros were being touted as being part of the consortium buying out the club. This seems to suggest they have not committed themselves 100%.

Of course the rumour that we have 6 Potugeezas (sic) on trial/signed makes you think that the Castros may be playing down their involvement or that we have more agents at the club than you can shake a stick at....

Raises far more questions than it answers - the Castros have been spotted on the fringes of this since the summer, and seems now they're breaking cover, but as what? They're in talks but about what? Buying in? Taking over? Player sales/loans?

Part of me is furious at the way our club is being tossed around and abused by people who do not have the same emotional attachment as we do.  It's like watching your sister being eyed up by the local spivs.

The rest of me is simply losing interest.  Luton was my first game this year and it was fanstastic, but I'm really not sure when I'll be back.

Its at times like this that  Trust should come into its own....its the only realistic vehicle for us ordinary fans to speak with a collective voice. What can be done?

its difficult to make a conection with jim little and the castros. this makes no sense. it looks like sturrock is getting cut out of the loop by the so say agents who look like they have some say in the players comming in. it would be interesting to see littles attitude to sturrock if we lost a few games as he seems quite agressive in his attitude towards success.
