   Can you still get parrafin and parrafin heaters?

I'm sure parrafin was still around within the last 5 years or so. I'm sure there is still a machine outside Hammond's motorcycles in Ciren, god knows if it still works.

My late great nan used to have several little heaters. I always thought she'd set fire to the house and go that way. Mercifully she didn't.

 I think it must be, just that its been off my radar for years....as an impecunious student, I used to rely on parrafin heating as it was cheap, student houses tended not to have central heating, in some cases roofs or windows.  Trouble was if the buggers ran out the wick started to burn and then you got a load of smoke and had to do a repair job.

Or one with the "Esso man"  (means happy motoring)

  Ooooh....I seem to recall the Esso man having a pointy head...one of those would be quality.

As I remember, the yellow pointy head was supposed to represent a flame. The rest of the body was white overalls I think.  

Don't know about paraffin, think it's all calor gas now

Esso were also the first company to have an advertising slogan on a corgi toy - put a tiger in your tank.
