If you want to play classic console style games or just wave your arms around like a moron with your mates then get a Wii.
If you want to play the latest better looking Sports/Racing/Grand Theft Auto then get a 360 or PS3.
If you want to play the latest crazy ace looking FPS with or without your online buddies. Or maybe pretend your a dark elf hacking your way through virtual worlds then get a top end PC.
Otherwise just stay a generation behind, emulate everything up to PSone and N64 on your old cheap PC with a couple of cheap controllers for multiplayer Snes fun. Get a budget PS2 or Gamecube or both depending on what you want to play.

what fb is trying to say is...
if you've got mates, get a wii.
if you don't have mates, get something else.

Nah not really, it was a bit of an over simplification and video games are generally a solo pursuit anyway. The Wii is the best for drunken fun. Pissed up Wii Bowling is much easier than drunken ProEvo.
That said, I was trying to make the bottom one sound the best. Still need to pick up a cheap ps2 though, and maybe a Dreamcast. Oh and an Atari Jaguar. My computer can't quite emulate Tempest 2000 well enough to make it worth playing.

I've got a Wii and I have to say, it offers much more fun than your usual run-of-the-mill computer games do; if you are a serious gamer it's probably not for you, but if you want to muck about and have a laugh (and get a bit fit - the boxing is exhausting), the Wii is great value!

I played on a Wii for the first time a couple weeks ago, it was ace! Definately more fun with a load of you and pissed than playing on your own though.
