Rumour is that Holmes may be released by Derby, not just loaned out.  Either way, they had no issues loaning him out to Relegation fodder Bradford last season.
That's an encouraging sign! It would be great to see him back because he had a spark that few other players at the time possessed in our team. I'm sure if somebody got the best out of him he could do well at this level.

Having said that, it is probably bollocks!

He would be a fantastic signing and the left side of midfield would be really strong and the competition would be great.

If he hasn't progressed then perhaps he has gone a bit stale at Derby and needs a new challenge, when he was here he showed his potential so maybe he needs that extra bit of coaching.

Maybe if we all wish hard enough if might happen and we can have something to cheer about at long last.

To be fair it must be difficult making an impression at a club like Derby who were pushing for promotion all year, dropping to this level would give another chance to shine

Mostly picking the ball up from outside our own penalty area, run the length of the touch line a-la McMannaman in his prime, then whip in quality crosses.

the thing i remember most is him literally standing on the touch line waiting for the ball, running at the full back and 9/10 getting a cross in or getting a corner.

I also remember grant smith about to cross the ball and holmes ran in front and crossed the ball, smith took a swipe at the same time and missed and starting shouting at holmes while parkin popped up and scored from the cross.

smith just shook his head and laughed and celebrated with holmes.
