"You will notice that Butkus, Stallone's 110 pound bull-mastiff is no longer in the Rocky series. Butkus died before Rocky III began filming. Stallone was devastated. In fact, he was so upset he wouldn't write in another dog so he wrote Butkus out of the series"

Rocky III is indeed ace. Fighting Hulk Hogan and Mr T in one film. My word.

My vast depth of useless knowledge is telling me that it got nominated for an Oscar. Unfortunately I don't think it was for "Film with most mental boxing opponents", as it clearly would have wiped the floor and won it every year since.

It would also be the first Rocky film to feature "Eye of the Tiger". Word up on that.

Carl Weathers' performance as Apollo Creed is also nothing short of sensational. However he's gone down in my estimation since he refused Sylvester Stallone permission to use footage from Rocky 1-4 of him in Rocky Balboa unless he could make an appearance in the film. SS obviously refused because well it wouldn't make any sense. What a knobish thing for Mr. Weathers to do.

Some fun bit's of Rocky factoids for you there. You can never have enough trivia about the Rocky series. I do have to admit that I didn't know that about Butkus though.

Dolph Lundgren got his name after he got caught in some tuna nets whilst diving for pearls. His real name is Dave.

Mr. T would be the only character in all the rocky films to so horrendously whip Rocky into oblivion. Even though Rocky was a bit distracted at the time it still deserves an honourable mention.

From memory, Rocky III could be the only film to include three Rocky in the ring fights. Let's think back...

I : 2
II : 1
III : 3
IV : 1
V : 0
VI : 1

I love the Rocky films they are ace.

also, rocky vi is probably the only film of all time where the flashback scenes from years gone by contain the same actor as in the 'present day' scenes. he might pull the same trick in rambo 4 you know.
