I've already in this thread quoted the interview in which, when asked the direct question, he answered yes, and then went on to justify his answer explaining that he just didn't like some people, and didn't think they could consider themselves as English just because they were born here.

The answer was  given straight, it wasn't part of a routine, but simply stated his position.

If at other times when he felt under pressure from interviewers he recanted this then I've got even less respect for the man.

As for your frankly laughable "it was an act" line.
What sort of act would that be? Are you saying he adopted a racist personae to subtlely satirise racism ala Alf Garnett? If he did it was too fucking subtle for me, and the rest of the population of the world. Perhaps only you Arriba were smart enough to detect the levels of irony in his use of phrases like "useless bunch of fucking niggers".

Either that or you're arguing that although BM himself wasn't racist he was happy to tell jokes that encouraged other people to be racist. But it's only fun if people play the game. A decent debate is about taking the logic of your opponents argument apart, highlighting interrnal inconsistencies, pointing out factual inaccuracy.

When the other person stops attempting to do that and just falls back on restating their origninal position you've won!

This for me, is where it all gets a bit confusing. Black people call each other the N word, then get all het up when it is used by people of other colour whether meant with or without malice.
To my mind, that smacks of double standards.
FWIW, through out my day to day working life, i have heard coloured people using ghetto slang on a regular basis between themselves, and have stamped down hard on it for the simple reason that it encourages non-coloured people to use the very same language, and then all hell breaks loose.

The thing that annoys me most about discussions like this is the fact that people seem to think taking the piss out of somebody is wrong in any way. I'm not condoning racism, ageism, sexism etc etc etc, but the majority of jokes do tend to involve laughing at somebody or a group of people.

Completely over the top if you ask me. Not using the word as a term of racist abuse. A bit of a social faux pas but hardly something to make such a bloody fuss about. Channel 4 have only jumped all over it 'cause of last year I suppose.
