Im flying to Germany for the weekend tomorrow and only taking hand luggage with me. Ive been told that you can't take liquids like gel, shower gel etc. in hand luggage. Can anyone confirm this please or no how strict they are if I say I "didn't realise"?

They'll let you have small quantities (I think it's less than 500ml) of liquids but you have to have them in a clear plastic bag so they can see them if you're asked to open your bag. Anything bigger and they will just chuck it.

Check the airlines website as usually there are clear instructions there. They liftes the total ban in about January/February I think.

I just got back from a trip to Scotland.  They will allow anything under 100ml. They will tell you to put it in a clear bag when checking in.

I only had to throw my new tub of Gel away, cunts. If you go into boots/wikinsons they sell travel sizes stuff.

This is true, but you can buy whatever you want once you have had your bagged scanned and are in the departure lounge

I'm always amused at the ratio of handcuffs to scissors and corkscrews they have in those big clear confiscation boxes at some airports.

I caught the bastards at Manchester airport taking confiscated perfume and booze from the security check in as well.
