It all used to be Russia once....... The Rus were of course Vikings....who took their longboats up the wide rivers of central Europe into what is now Ukraine Belarus and Russia. They were particularly given to slave trading notably in women, and there some excellent first hand accounts of Viking markets, where women could be tried out before you bought them.
