Was thinking of going to Big Chill this year but have seen it's been cancelled.
Have been to Latitude last 2 years and enjoyed that but can't be bothered with the trek to deepest Suffolk again.
Any ideas for good festivals for the Summer that offer decent music and ideally some other stuff too e.g. comedy?

Wychwood will be right on your doorstep - not sure about the line up though.

Do they do day tickets. I mean they used to, have you heard if they will. I think they were on sale later than weekend tickets.

Anyway James are headlining on the Saturday, so assuming I sill have a job by the time they go on sale I'm there!

A day ticket for just the Saturday will be £53 - I have application forms to trade there, but am also looking at Larmer Tree and one called Hullaballoo.

Some interesting thoughts here. Thanks.

Wychwood looks as though it might be worth a day trip, but I'd like to find something with some bigger bands for a weekend, likewise heard good things about 2000 trees but again want to see some bigger bands.

I've checked out the Hullaballoo and see its not much more than 1 mile walk from home.  Might check out what's going on there for a day trip.

I'll do a more in-depth search around some time.

My worry about the Hullaballoo one is that it sounds a bit like the Collaboration Fest on last year.

At least Wychwood has a past so you can check the history and be more sure there will be more that 8 people turning up.

I saw James at Goldiggers in Chippenham when they supported the Smiths on the Meat is Murder tour. I remember thinking that the drummer was bloody brilliant - he got kicked off the band a bit later for fighting on stage with the singer (Tim Booth?). Not saying they became rubbish after commercial success, but I really liked their early quirkiness.

Diggers was great - I just used to go and watch whoever was playing without any thought to what was cool or otherwise. Saw The Human League, Marillion and Marc Almond and the Willing Sinners there.

I saw The Tom Robinson band there once. It was a live show for the old grey whistle test. Think I also went to see Human league so not too embarrassing I suppose. Watching Dollar is a bit dodgy though !

Depends whether you were watching David Van Day or Thereza Bazar?
