we cant have any more long term loan deals because they have to be finalised by deadline day. 3 months are the longest you're allowed without it being a season long. so this will definately be his last month, if he's allowed to stay

Dex is right, didn't someone discover this on FM2005 or something. Holmesy's either off today or in a month. Gutted. You never know though ol' BH might be like a new man after a month training with Harford.

You give Brian Howard way too much stick, I bet he could out run the lot of you.

That's like me saying, "Oooh, Matt Hewlett's rubbish" and you saying "But he's miles better than you OST!" Yes he is, but it doesn't prove anything does it??

I agree OST, I doubt Howard could out run me in a full on sprint, but that is beside the point coz he'd take the piss out of me if we played that nutmeg game in Holland.
I often wondered how much better a team made up of Talia, Drysdale, Mark Robinson, Hewlett etc would do against a team of me and my mates, none of us are any good really, but I'd like to think we could have given them a run for their money.

They would of course rip you to shreds unless you and your mates were all very decent players. I played once against an old bloke (he was 60 something I guess) who had played for Swindon about 40 years before and he was so good it was unbelievable. He ran rings round all of us. Any player who has played at any level where you get payed to play (as opposed to you paying your £1 subs on a Sunday morning for the privilige of gracing Penhill Pitch 12) has my utmost respect. When we say a certain Town player is crap we all know (well most of us do) it is relative. Saying "Ooh, he's better than any of you lot" is a dumb ass thing to say.

I'm not saying that I'd ideally want him out there, but when Holmes does leave Howard will inevitably come back into the team - so I'm just hoping he is put out on the left where he will do the least damage to us, and hope also that he is told to stay wide (pardon the pun) ala Holmes.
Just preparing for his inevitable re-instatement to the starting 11, and given the choice of Smith wide left with Howard in the middle, or Howard wide left with Smith in the middle then I know which I would rather. Why can't we stick Nicho in dukeys fullback position and stick dukey on left of midfiled? He's got more disipline and desire than Howard nowadays?

Duke isn't attacking enough, may work away from home but at home we need someone who's going to skin fullbacks. Holmes is alright, but I prefer Howard - has more goals in him, more moments of brilliance, but also way more moments of sheer mediocrity, making him unpopular with fans. And trust me he isn't fat, I've seen him topless

Oh yeah, I dont doubt they'd beat us, but just to see what makes a scout go over the Mark Robinsons of this world and say "hey I really recon you've got what it takes son" would be facinating.

Cracking news!
Fingers crossed that when this deal expires we can then hopefully re-loan him back from Derby.
Provided I haven't missed anyone here by my calculations we have only used five of our eight max short term loan deals this season.
Yeates Mitchell Holmes Proctor Henderson
Jenkins doesn't count as the deal became permanent and Slabber (again I believe) is classed as a long term deal.
FA laws state that you can loan the same player over the course of a season for up to 93 days at a time.
A second deal should then cover Holmes to the end of the season and PO's.
Not sure where Derby would stand on that though. Hopefully George will be willing to do the same again, an initial short term effort followed by extensions with a re-call if necessary.

i think you might be right there dazzza man. would be good news. if play-offs were in touching distant i think Burley could loan him out again, even if it's just to create more interest in the youngster
