Posted on myonlyswindon :

That was virtually a full strength Brentford team and from 20 mins on we battered them big time. The fact we lost on penalties is annoying and frustrating but essentially meaningless, it is a lottery after all.

I sat next to Christian Robberts Lee Peacock and Adie Williams who didnt say much but CR was clapping along with 'Barrmy Army' like everyone else in the Exec Box..happy days are here again!

The place was rocking last night with a healthy crowd for League Cup round 1 and most unattractive opponents, great noise from all round the ground and the lads in the Arkells certainly add some great atmos to that part of the ground.

Evans and Fola were tireless and the former looks like the steal of the season..great engine and good striker of the ball, Fola ran himself into the ground and Holgate worked hard too. Caton looks the real deal and CR was full of praise saying the guy has been through a hell of a time after his accident. Jack Smith had a good game as to be fair they all did after a dodgy start, I also thought the keeper looked very solid with a great boot on him, we have a strong squad with almost nobody who cant do a job at our level.

Once we got organised we were the better team and deserved to win.

The only real downer (forgetting the result) was the refereeing display which was diabolical, the guy had obviously never played the game but worse didnt even look as if he had ever watched one; total c ock who booked 9 and sent off Brownlie with 45secs to go in a match devoid of any bad fouls..total idiot!

All round a great game full of incident and drama, dont care about the pens it was a moral victory for Swindon reserves v Brentfords first team..they will probably go up but we will overtake them as they sink back down to their level...indicated by a set of pathetically quiet uncreative fans!

Fucking quality !

Can just imagine robbo doing "barmy army" !

I spoke to Lee Peacock after the game as well.  He was absolutely delighted with the performance but the best thing was that he said he had never enjoyed his football as much as he is now - great training, great bunch of lads.

Nice to hear.

Think Jim hangs about outside the players entrance, collecting autographs.

It's good to read that there's a good all-round atmosphere at the club again. Long-gone are those unorganised days where people didn't want to wear the shirt (exception Aaron Brown).

Good to hear the players getting invloved with the crowd! Even if only a little bit.

Nothing made me happier last seaon than Woany and the youth team sat in the away end at City joining in all the chants and mouthing off the summers!

That is good to hear. They all look like they're enjoying life at the moment. Bodes well for the inevitable bad form they'll get during the campaign. I guess it's going to be easier to get out of it if you're all fighting for each other ...

Hopefully if we hit a bad patch it'll only be for a few games ... not like the play off season when it lasted a few months!!!!

Fred Elliott says," The fact we lost on penalties is annoying and frustrating but essentially meaningless, it is a lottery after all."

I've never subscribed to that theory. Why is it a lottery? It's about pro footballers sticking the ball in the back of the net from 12 yards. In a lottery you have no control over the final outcome,it's just a piss-poor excuse invented by the England national side.Having said that,we deserved to win
