I went to my first Swindon game when Monsieur Osvaldo Ardiles was in charge.

So, I'll go with him.

Lou Macari easily  :\/

I like the fact that Wise seems to be showing a similar no nonsense style.

john gorman - shit but good football
steve mcmahon - cunt
jimmy quinn - did ok with no money
andy king - twat but got decent results
iffy onoura - would have been decent given time

probably onoura i thought he had was far beyond any of our previous managers who were typical lower league meatheads. iffy was articulate which qualifies him above all apart from gorman

i started going to swindon just before macari got the sack and then reinstated. i think i was around 7/8 years old. great manager and he has never managed to succeed really anywhere else.

hoddle obviously has to come into it but there was something about ardiles that was a bit more magical than hoddle.

i have never seen a team transformed in the way that they play more so than when ossie took over. some of the stuff we played on 89/90 was jaw dropping.
and the play off semi final win over blackburn when all the ticker tape was thrown as the players came out was something we will never see again. amazing

i played a match at the ground a few days later for a school boy final and they had not cleared up the mess. there was shit loads of the stuff everywhere including a big flag someone had left behind.
im rambling, but happy days they were.
shame they wont let people in with ticker tape anymore
