The reason youth players dont make the step up is because they arent physically big and strong enough.
Obviously when playing in age levels everyone is of similiar age, and therefore most are of similiar build.
I've stood along side Ashan Holgate and hes a bit tallker than me...6ft possibly 6ft 1 yet last season the defenders seemed to tower over him still!! good example is titus bramble - developed physically very fast so at under 21 level he was bigger, stronger and faster than everyone else, eventually everyone catches up and footballing ability comes to the fore. |
