Morning all, got a nice little rumour fresh off the Mill about Rhys Evans replacement.
Word up is it's Chelsea number three Lenny Pidgeley who despite being highly rated is set to drop down the pecking order after Jose just signed an experienced keeper from his old club Porto.
Just a coincidence I’m sure but he’s also spent time on loan at Millwall.
No idea if this is on loan or a permanent deal, he is still under contract at Chelski so anything permanent may require a transfer fee. That said I think they are trying to offload him at the moment so you never know what may materialise.
Suspect this may have been on the cards for a while hastening the departure of Evans. Not a done deal but I'd wager this is one of the first names to go public when Dennis gets back of his Hols.
Lenny PidgeleyLenny ascended the goalkeeping ranks at Chelsea rapidly during the summer of 2004 when Mourinho's new coaching team decided they required a young, aspiring goalkeeper to fill the third spot for that position in the squad.
So while the likes of Marco Ambrosio, Neil Sullivan and Jürgen Macho moved on, the tall, youthful Londoner now trains full-time with Carlo Cudicini, Petr Cech and goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro. Last season he occupied a place on the bench when Carlo was injured and made his Chelsea first team debut as a sub in the final home game against Charlton.
Lenny is a product of the Chelsea youth system, has played for England at several junior levels and was called into the Under 21 squad for the first time at the start of last season.
He has become increasingly assured over the last couple of years as he grows in stature with regular appearances coming in the reserves.
In September 2003, First Division Watford took him on loan, initially as cover, but Lenny impressively won a first team place, racking up 29 appearances and even facing Chelsea in the FA Cup. While at Vicarage Road he was coached by former Blues stalwart Kevin Hitchcock.
