:-))(  My cousin is in the dominican republic (sp) at the moment for a wedding. He rang me last night and said the weather is absolutely beautiful and the beach they are near is fantastic. I'd love to go there one day.

As for lanzarote, one of my mates said its a bit cack and the other liked it  Cheesy  I've personally never been.

Its a nice enough place if you avoid the major towns. The island is covered in sharp, ugly rock from where  a volcano errupted in the past. which is a bit shit. nice weather though.

I went to Dominican about 18 months ago with my ex.  Its ok but of all the caribbean islands the likes of Antigua and the Bahamas are a better choice IMO. However the downside is they are significantly far more expensive.

Dom Reps OK, went there about 3 years ago. You can get some good value for money deals all inclusive, however the island is very poor. You are pretty much confined to the resort complex, as going outside them on your own is pretty risky. That can be pretty dull for 2 weeks if you're the active type. If you go to Bavaro, expect at least a two hour transfer following a ten hour + flight. Puerto Plata on the north side has better hotels and some nice golf courses, so I'd go there if I went back.

Not been to Lanzarote myself, but family members have been and said it was nice. Like everywhere, depends where you stay and what your interests are. Went to Gran Canaria a couple of years back, cockroach central  :x Strangely enough, the best bar we found was German  Shocked

Might do a cheap Caribbean cruise (don't all laugh, I'm not that old) over Xmas, you get to stop at loads of islands (except Cuba).

I'd love to go on safari, have you been lady?  I'd buy one of those safari hats too  Cheesy  The only thing I'd be scared off is all those insects and lions but I bet the scenery is beautiful and seeing all the animals in their natural environment must be amazing. The closest I've ever been is longleat.
