How do you make FM2006 run faster?

Ok then techie people. I've started a game with too many leagues running and I'm now 4 seasons in.

I've put up with the slow processing speed, but its getting worse and really starting to get on my tits. I've got Swindon to the premiership so starting again isnt really an option. I'm skint right now and cant afford to upgrade the memory on my PC.

So any tips as to how I can make the game process faster?
- I'm going to run a spyware check tonight
- I've been told that "de-fragging" the HD is a good idea and is simple to do

Anything else?

In the options you can turn off all the sounds and pictures of players etc....

Defrag of the hard drive is pretty simple, will take ages - make sure nothing is open and

Open My Computer
Right click on C: drive and goto properties
Click on the tools tab
Click defragment now and follow on screen options

If you haven't done this before it could take a while....

Apart from that dunno as my PC is fast as fook, so I'm alright Jack!!

Start again.  If you're really any good you'll be back up there in no time... Wink

You used to be able to speed up championship manager by deleting the old highlights and news files. Don't think it worked with football manager 2005 too well though

Bo - cheers. Sounds are off already, it will piss me off a bit not having the pics but its prefreble to the cock chaffing that I'm suffering from due to having a wank every time it loads for 5 minutes at a time Wink  Cheesy

DB- shut it, slag. I've wasted 7 whole days of my life on this (seriousley) since it was released   :?

Si - I've read theres a program that deletes the PKF files, (which are the historical saved match details I think) would this speed up the game or just speed up the save process and significantly reduce the size of the save file?

To make it run faster, take the sound off, don't change the backgrounds, also change the speed results process (I have it on fatest- can't interrupy).

If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're gonna see some serious shit...

It used to make it load up faster and save faster, marginal difference with the game speed. Don't know if it would work with fm2006 but in theory it would.

Alternatively you could dangle a carrot in front of it  Wink
