... by our quality on Saturday.

I didn't give us much of a chance prior to kick-off given Brentford would be well drilled, very physcial and player-for-player looked a better side on paper. I also thought that even if we turned it on we'd suffer from more bad luck and end up losing one-nil with their keeper scoring a last minute winner... or something of that ilk.

What I saw was a performance full of grit, determination and no little skill, especially in the second half. We soaked up pressure for long spells and full deserved the clean sheet that Heaton earned us with a top-drawer display of keeping prowess.

All that we seemed to miss was that killer ball in the final third. How many times did we break with pace?! I counted three opportunities where Brentford struggled with our counter-attacking (the pace of Bouazza in particular) but unfortunately the likes of Pook and McDermott couldn't pick-out Rory of Hameur for an easy tap-in. Add that to Pook's volley, Rory's gilt-edged first half opportunity, Hameur's disallowed goal - great finish by the way! - and a couple of other scrappy chances and we could have walked with all three points.

If we can keep that level or performance up and keep getting the rub of the green I'd fully expect us to pull clear of trouble by Xmas. Cool

No one has said it yet, but what shocked me most was how well *gulp* Gurney played.

He got stuck in and broke up alot of the play, sadly he then tried to 'beckham' pass it out left to Bouzza alot and lost it.

Hopefully now King is gone, Gurney will realise he isnt the managers favourite anymore. Hhopefully he will now pull his finger out his arse and realise he has to play for his place.

More of the same please Gurns

Gurney's passing was woeful, but with him holding we looked solid. Good effort from the loony.

Couldn't agree more. I've said somewhere else that when he kept it simple he was effective - bloody effective. The trouble was he looked for the spectacular a few times too many. That said, he was a key man when the lads had to stand-up and be counted. The first time I've actually looked at the bloke and said 'now there is a leader'.

Leads by example. Can't fault that.

He'd make a better captain than Silent Seano.

Gurney was immense, and it's my doing.  The team bus past by the pub I was in, so I ran up to the bus, pointed at Gurney and screamed "Come on" waving my fist.  There you go, just have to make sure I intercept the coach again before sCUNThorpe.  I think I scared him into playing well.  He probably thinks I'm some obsessed fan with his career imprinted in my head, and posters of him on my wall....

I facking love Gurney.  "Sign him up, Sign him up".  It's a toss-up between him Fallon and Roberts for the name on the back of my shirt next season (or this if I can scrub Cureton out    - only 'cos we're loaning him out though, I still love him too).

Can you put Pook on your shirt, then we might get shot of him too?
