Macclesfield face FA cash charges

The Football Association has charged Macclesfield with four rules breaches regarding financial irregularities.
Three of the charges relate to a grant received from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund for the Estate Road Stand, built between 2000 and 2002.

The fourth charge concerns the League Two club's accounting records.

Macclesfield chairman Robert Bickerton said in a statement that the club had co-operated fully with the inquiry and would request a personal hearing.

The Silkmen have until 29 September to respond to the charge, after which the FA will decide on a disciplinary hearing date.

"The current board of Macclesfield Town Football Club has co-operated fully at all times with the Football Association during their inquiry," Bickerton told the club website.

"The procedures of the Football Association allow the club to request a personal hearing at a commission before any action, if any, is taken by the FA.

"The board of Macclesfield Town Football Club Ltd will be availing itself of this opportunity.

"The club will not be making any further statements on this matter until the hearing takes place."

The FA has open-ended powers in such cases, including the ability to deduct points if a club is found guilty.

Macclesfield reached the play-offs last season but have struggled so far this term and lie sixth from bottom, just three points above bottom side Torquay.

An offshoot of the Football Foundation, the FSIF is responsible for providing cash to clubs eager to redevelop their stadiums.

But it did set a precedent which has never been followed...we should sue for compensation

Macclesfield are the kind of team who the useless inept suits at the fa would come down hard on :x .Who the fuck would care?Macclesfield aren't important, they are only a league two club, and clubs like them don't matter. But if your in the premiership, you can do what you like, cause all that matters is money and influence.

They should be demoted, then we can agree with them that the punishment was to harsh, the same thing should have happened to spurs, forest and chesterfield.

but your right, we should get compensation

Yeah i agree with that, the F.A love all this double standards bollocks, if you're in The Premiership then you're allowed to get millions in debt, if you're in the Football League its a massive fine and points deducted.

It does seem ridiculous how we were relegated 2 divisions (originally) when similar offences recieve minimal punishments elsewhere
