Anybody had to repair dry lining tape coming away from the top of the wall & ceiling about 2 inches wide and if so did you replace the tape then plaster or just plaster straight over then re-paint

If the tape is just coming away I should stick backdown with some PVA adhesive or if you have some overlap and apborder adhesive, which is pretty much the same thing. Of the tape has come away you can fill the ‘gap’ with some good quality decorators caulk.. smooth flat with a filling knife dipped in water to smooth it off and wait for it to dry, the plaster over it. Depending how much caulk you use will of course depend how long you’ll need to leave it to dry before plastering.

In which case you may find getting a roll of tape from Screwfix more practical.

I guessing quite a bit of filling all over the tape to cover it before painting

Time is your enemy if you have circa 30 feet to caulk at an unknown depth. My guess is you want to get this re skimmed ASAP, in which case the tape is your best option.
