I saw the first ever fixture in what was then the Battle of the Railwaymen. You're right about the lights and their open terracing consisted of railway sleepers filled with stone track ballast. They weren't very nice that day, typical norvern scum as we came under a hail of handy sized rail aggregate. Some of the locals said they were Stoke as the locals weren't like that...
