Perfection is not attainable

« on: Tuesday, June 3, 2014, 11:10:27 »

Exeter City are the latest club in financial difficulties after needing a loan from the PFA to pay this months wages, it will only get worse with no fresh income over the next couple of months too.

http://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/news/article/club-statement-1593561.aspx

Exeter are one of the few "Supporter Trust" run clubs in England and this doesn't look good for their future without extra investment from somewhere.

Forest, Salisbury FC and Hereford Utd on the list as well.

We'll see several clubs drop off the radar soon enough. As proud as we are of our league system, it simply cannot sustain the way it's going at the moment.

Hopefully we won't be one of the fallen.

This is very true, caused in the main by absolutely stupid transfer fees and incredibly high wages.

When a player in League 2 can command a wage as much as £5k per week (as we had under PdC allegedly, and Notts County paying Kasper Schmiechel £15k a week in the same league) then its going to bring financial ruin as other clubs try to compete on the wages front to bring in better players or risk being left behind.

Isn't Jed's mate, and Harry Agombar's dad, Tommy about to 'save' Hereford? http://unofficialbulls.proboards.com/thread/40799?page=2

"In the club statement released by Hereford, Agombar, whose son Harry played for both Swindon Town and Macclesfield Town....."

Did he ever actually play? Must've missed that!

Is this Exeter City that are playing a match in Brazil in July to celebrate an anniversary. Guess that costs nothing

I wonder if this is the team mentioned in the Secret Footballer book who plead poverty every couple of years, a big team comes to play a friendly and the buckets come out etc. Manager highest paid in the division.

(Saying that, that sounds a bit like us!)

There for the grace.....

Stupid wages are the root of most of it...and...clubs like us at a certain time paying them...
