My dad works there occasionally and I regret to say he is distinctly underwhelmed by the development, think swanky yet souless riverside apartment blocks, with the inevitable collection of trendy chain bars/clubs. Not to be reccommended, head on up to Merthyr for a lovely welcome and a more spit and sawdust (or should that be coaldust)ambience. Hope that helps  Sad

Agreed, I dropped in there for my brother's stag do earlier this year it seemed fairly identikit with the likes of Nandos, Strada etc and standard bars. I quickly recommended heading up into town to the life and soul of the town.

Get in and around St Mary's street and you can't go wrong.

Its nice enough, but very much agree with gingernuggets assessment of the area.

I recommend Cafe Calcio. Its near the university, and does something called the Fat Bastard breakfast. 3 of everything for 10 quid, and if you eat the lot, its free! (No I've not tried, let alone succeeded....).

I'll let others advice on pubs etc.
