Guys, need to find some stem ginger for a mate who is visiting at Xmas.  Haven't a clue what it is!!!!  Is it a sweet?  Where can I buy some? Any help greatfully received!!

As Chubbs says - comes in a jar  usually around the cake ingredient section. Looks a bit like cocktail onions, but is in a syrup rather than vinegar.  Just the job for ginger cake.

Stem Ginger, like Alan McCormack, is Versatile.  Good substitute for when recipes say fresh ginger, though bit sweeter.

I think McCormack would get a bit stroppy if I tried whisking him with some eggs and baking him gently for 30 minutes.
