Went to watch St Mirren v Celtic years back....can remember the ground was painted bright red and both sets of fans were terrifying,it truly was/is a grim place(Paisley i think)
Pretty sure St Midden is in Paisley. A lot of the clubs in the West play in hovels. Motherwell, Hamilton, Partick etc. Make Swindon look like Vienna!

I don't know Motherwell or Hamilton, but nothing wrong with Partick, surely? One of the better parts of Glasgow.

So we've tried this a few times before and it didn't work, so we'll try again? I can't help thinking of Einstein's quote: Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

It was a bit of an assumption. I have actually only been to Motherwell out of those places but to me most of the West of Scotland has a load of horrible towns (cumbernauld comes to mind) so assumed they were all as bad.

Is Cumbernauld west? Horrible place, I agree. As are a lot of the other satellite towns around Glasgow that grew up when the slums were cleared.
Maybe it's because I spend more time in Argyll and the Clyde Estuary...but I'm a big fan of the west of Scotland. Places like Dunoon, Troon, Largs, Helensburgh and Oban are great places to live. (But sadly, none of them have league football teams.)

Id love it.
But it probably wouldnt make any difference to us, they would probably only merge the two in the last 16 or something like that.

Lets face it, the interest in cups at our end of the football league couldnt be much lower.
Lower league fans dont seem to have the imagination for cup competitions any more.

Cumbernauld is North Lanarkshire. That is West enough for me!

No thanks to a British League Cup. It's bad enough having to go to Carlisle, let alone Inverness Caley Thistle.
Excuse me....nothing wrong with Inverness Caley Thistle....nice ground...east wind roars up the Moray Firth, and I would get to see STFC...lose probably

Not until clubs get to rounds where bigger clubs come in, no. It's a bit of a shame really, as it seems to have an effect on the players - how often have we gone out to a team in League Two or the Conference without putting up much of a fight? Far too often.
