Near Okehampton...lovely little Town/Village in Devon.
Got there at 8am this morning...Christmas card scene under 6 ins of snow...carefully drive down the High Street and deliver the doors to the builders yard....nice coffee and on my way out of town.....up a great hill with with a radient like the eiger.
6 ins of snow on top of ice...not gritted and the only way out.
I put the gripping device on and get a run up....seem to be just coping when on the brow is a tractor...parked with no driver...the horn and expletives dont work...so i end up jamming the brakes on and i am fucked...no headway forward...and gradually sliding back when trying to go forward.
So i am sat there and now with cars behind me i am just starting to lose it when the farmer gets back...and after oohing and arrghing a bit hooks his iron chain onto the cab and pulls me over the brow....couldnt believe the power that little tractor had.
Say my thanks and on my way...like the pied piper with a convoy of traffic behind me.
Restored my faith a little today...he didn't have to  break his day to help me....he was feeding his sheep in snowy fields.
Good on the ol farmer from North Tawton.
