Not exactly exciting news, but interestingly one of the members on the board - Mazhar Majeed apparently had links to some cricket match fixing dealings (not sure if this is the Pakistan nonsense)

It is the Pakistan stuff yes, the first round of it anyway.

Papers have it down as suicide but who knows.

Allegedly, one of the bits the NOTW got on tape was the owner saying he'd only bought the club to launder money from betting scams. Created a massive upheaval at the club, owner disappeared, manager and half the players quit at the end of the next game on the pitch IIRC

The thing I notice was that they must be the adver's sister paper, as the reporting is shocking. In the space of a couple of sentences they say he lived In Sutton, Carshalton and Wallington, although all near each other not the same places. Anyway glad I've got an alibi!

Would be a shame to see they them go bust because of the guys involvement in the cricket.

Wouldn't surprise me if its suicide as his club has gone bust or it could be something more sinister....

Ok firstly the somber part... any death is tragic, especially under such circumstances.  Sad

On the positive side, I think the journo in question was trying to be amusing, just read the following quote from the article, it's golden...

Croydon Athletic chairman David Le Cluse was discovered with gunshot wounds in a garage in Wallington on Saturday morning. Police are investigating the 44-year-old's death which they are currently treating as "unexplained"  Doh
