Okay, so tomorrow came and went, as did the rest of 2009. Sorry about that, but are some more of the results:
Film and Television
Best Film
Borat
http://images.google.co.uk/url?source=imgres&ct=tbn&q=http://www.sportouring.com/itemImages/image/borat-mankini-2.jpg&usg=AFQjCNEmYzqMCgDbnFUVssLa8wgg1tkieA
Not quite sure about that myself, but the most popular film amongst the denizens of the TEF is Sacha Baron Cohen's mockumentary about a Kazakh in the United States. Amusing and painful in not entirely equal quantities, as well as having brought the Mankini into fashion.
Very nice. Three D's are the closest rivals: Dodgeball, Dog Soldiers and (the) Dark Knight
Best Actor
Denzel Washinton
http://images.google.co.uk/url?source=imgres&ct=tbn&q=http://prijemni.infostud.com/sta_su_studirali_poznati/files/fakultet_169/Denzel_Washington.jpg&usg=AFQjCNH3MTQIKfc-uPMC5ef8emsrhnozbg
A hugely split category, Mr. Washington was the only person to achieve two nominations, so here he is. Film credits in the decade just gone include American Gangster, the Manchurian Candidate and Training Day. He also had a spell on Broadway starring as Brutus in Julius Caesar. Et tu Denzel?
Best of Television: Serious and Comedic
Lost and Peep Show
http://images.google.co.uk/url?source=imgres&ct=tbn&q=http://www.tvblanket.com/image/lost_tv_show.JPG&usg=AFQjCNHG6RS0ClPXenKXT-7yscMbn8__Rw http://shinymedia.blogs.com/photos/uncategorized/2007/04/21/peepshow.jpg
HOLY SHIT IT'S NOT THE WIRE. Hold the front page, a best of TV award that doesn't go to
that show, a first for the internet and possibly the world. Winning instead is Lost, which it is generally agreed was very good, but went on far too long and generally got a bit weird in later Series. See Monkeys, Arctic for my opinion on Peep Show as the Comedic winner, but once again I say that I watched the first four series and quite honestly properly laughed once. Once. I'm sure i'm just a fool though/
Best Character
Dwight Schrute/Gareth Keenan (The Office US/UK)
http://images.google.co.uk/url?source=imgres&ct=tbn&q=http://static.tvfanatic.com/images/gallery/rainn-wilson-as-dwight-schrute.jpg&usg=AFQjCNGmrXukyAH2kbvKAp0aT-NkirEbxw http://images.google.co.uk/url?source=imgres&ct=tbn&q=http://www.pilkipedia.co.uk/wiki/images/1/18/Gareth1.jpg&usg=AFQjCNHIHEg8WnqVGm20TjLizgWOFGKUoA
Four different characters had two votes each, but seeing as these two are the same character more or less, I'm giving them the award jointly. The sycophantic, pompous jobsworth that everyone would truly hate to work with but cannot help laughing themselves silly at on screen. Other leading contenders included David Brent from the same show, and Peter Griffin, mostly as a lifestyle icon I'd have thought.
That's film and TV done, I'll return tomorrow (or maybe next week) with the final Sports section.
