The brain can be a complete shit too.
I read a sad story today about a 26 year old young mum who had a stroke. Now she has a completely normal brain in terms of thought/intellect, etc , but can only communicate through blinking and moving her eyes. It called something like 'locked-in syndrome". Can't think of much worse.
