It wasn't that good. I've scored better goals down the park.

Same here - last summer, the ball fell down behind me, and I backheel-volleyed the ball back over my head and then volleyed it in. Best goal thats ever been scored in this town I reckon.

I was there and didn't think it was that special at the time. I had another look at it recently and I was wrong, not sure if its the best I've seen at the CG but its definitely in the top 3. Not sure it will make much difference to his value though, it didn't help much with Fjortoft.

Best goal ever scored in the SN1 post-code region I'd warrant.

Its about time that goal got the credit it deserves. I could go to Swindon for another 30 years and probably wont see a better goal.

The Football League awards decided to ignore L1 and L2 totally. You could call me a bit cynical, but its definately part of an agenda to distance the Championship from Leagues 1 and 2.
Not cynical at all, that was precisely why they came up with the ludicrous "Championship" rebranding, so they could market "The Championship" as some kind of rival to "The Premiership". Oh, and then there's Leagues 1 and 2, the embarrassing backward cousins kept hidden away in the corner in case they make a show of themselves in front of the guests. They've already started negotiating separate standalone second-tier sponsorship deals for the Championship, expect the gap to keep on widening

An example of how the Championship are distancing themselves from L1 and L2 and keeping large
ammounts of monies to themselves, would be Birminghams parachute payments.

As a result of Birmingham's promotion back to the Premiership, they won't need the parachute payments,
so the Football League have divided the 15 million between the rest of the league clubs.

Unfortunately,it's not quite as straight forward as that, with  Championship clubs receiving a little over
half a million each.League 1 clubs receive 70 grand each, whilst League 2 clubs half as much again.

At the FL Awards they had the best goal of the year (i.e. 2008), and since Coxy scored it in Feb '09, he's a shoe in for next years award.
