My mate got a round on the rider cup course at Celtic Manor for a Christmas present. He's just started lessons now and the round is in June Smiley I hope they replace the divots in time for the Ryder Cup.

Lovely course as Leefer says, not too long but challenging in parts.

Make sure your wedge play is in order cos the shortish length means you'll probs fnd you have a lot of 'half' shots in, fiddly little chips etc. Loads of bunkers as well. First 2 holes are very birdiable, massive greens and short. The third is a brute of a par 5 so take a 6. Plays 600+ yards off the tournament tees sometimes! The 9th is a great hole, par 4 that I've reached with a 3 iron down wind.

The back 9 is shorter and more straight than the front so dont be too upset if you're struggling through the front. The 17th is the nicest par 3 you'll ever play but for the love of god miss it long and put yourself down for a 10.

They're proper savage about mobile phone use as well, I've been chucked off the course/out of the club house before.

Enjoy.

Enjoy.

I can confirm that it is a superb course, went out in 40 and back in 41 so pretty pleased with score. The 17th is unbelievable! do not attempt to play this course unless you have got a buggy, distance between  greens and tees is huge in places. Cheers for the info Dave, much appreciated.
