Hi all. I was trying to remember which one of these clubs used to have the likes of John Aldridge, Ray Houghton and won the league cup and played in the old first division. Was it called City or Utd. My mate says it was City but I thought it was Utd. Am really confused now. Is there anyone on here over 40 that knows. Thanks.

This is what happens when your bitter rivals drop out of the football league and people forget about them.

It was scummy United and I'm 16 years from being 40.

Surprised at your inability to remember Oxford young Batch, let me remind you, it's that place down the A420 with a crap non-league team and many estates full of prime retards due to inbreeding.

Yeah I'm far for being 40 as well...but can inform you that historically City were a much bigger club than Headington......they even had a couple of players capped by England, and emulated Swindon Victoria in reaching the Amateur Cup Final.

Headington never achieved anything much....until they changed their name, and trampled on the corpse of Accrington Stanley...and were elected to the league, they've yet to achieve league football on merit.

The Amateur Cup was a big annual showpiece and in the 50's would get crowds of 100,000 for a Wembley final....the likes of Wycombe Wanderers, Barnet and Wimbledon used figure around this time....Headington nowhere to be seen.

City I suppose have always stood for the values of gown....in the town v gown argument, and have thus always had a decent reputation whereas Headington have been mired in all types of sleaze...disgraced owners...racism amongst staff..sexual deviancy and employing a convicted paedo, to name a few.

Incidentally Swindon Vics got to the final in 21...the year when Ronnie 21 was born.

If only I could retire in 9 years, that would be splendid. Unfortunately I am but a baby faced 24 year old.

I suppose I've got to blame Elliott for this abuse as to my age.  For info only the 21 relates to the number of the house I live in, not the year I was born! Crying

Must admit while I was living in Oxford I never heard that about Oxford City.

As for the other lot, it was very rare to see any sign of support in the centre of town.  If you did see anyone wearing a top with the lettering 'OUFC' it was almost always referring to Oxford University FC (who would probably give United a very good game these days.)
