Bit of ginger nerd beard stroking for a Wednesday morning...

If you had to live in a Sci-Fi TV series/film alternative universe, which one would it be and why?

Fireball XL5. Mega ace on all counts. Steve Zodiac...what a man. Doctor Venus..I wood and Robert the Robot the second best robot on TV (obviously Danger Will Robinson is the best)

Zoonie the Lazoon was a bit annoying, but it was a kid's prog.

 Theme tune....oh yes.

It was filmed in black and white, but I swear I saw it in colour.

I know it's not a film or TV series but I'd like to live in "The Culture", the civilisation created by Iain M Banks which festures in a whole load of his SF novels and short stories.

I would like to live in Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. They all get to take drugs, have lots of sex and fly around in helicopters. On the downside your postion in life is choosen at birth and you have to life under state control and worship ford but fuck all that drugs, sex, and helicopters!

They seem to frown upon proper alcohol on the star ships in star trek, so that's out. Star Wars is a bit too violent, I'm sure there are people not involved with fighting clone wars and smuggling spice in the galaxy, but when people are randomly blowing up planets it's going over the top. Although being a jedi would be fucking mint.

Sliders would be fun, but again a bit dangerous, especially as Quinn Mallory would probably get upset when I fucked that Wade bird silly, he might leave me behind on Giant Rape Monkey Earth or something.

Lost, X-Files, Farscape,  you've got no chance either..

Maybe I'd be happy in most future society's sat back on earth taking advantage of the advanced chillaxing technologies. I think I need to give this some more thought.

Does Qutum Leap count? Being Ziggy would be cool.

This is pretty much why I plumped for the Culture. Whilst Contact and Special Circumstances seem to do a lot of rushing about with lives under threat, everyone else just seems to live a very comfrotable, mainly leisured life, glanding drugs and having fun.
