I think if Sturrock's hands were being tied behind his back as far as bringing new players in he would have mentioined it by now.

At the very lest he would have made one of those statements about "the financial realities of life in the lower leagues restricting my options" that managers make when they're trying to say to the fans "don't fucking blame me that the team are shit, the board won't let me spend any fucking money".

He hasn't even hinted that finance is restricting his options so I think it's unlikely. Sonic I think has probably hit the nail on the head. For the last few years he's been at Plymouth, Southampton, and the Wendies, all arguably bigger clubs than us, and all in higher leagues. He's got used to aiming a bit higher int he transfer market, and the sort of players he might have got at those clubs are taking one look at us and deciding they might be better off continuing to turn out in the stiffs until a better offer comes along.

It might have been a better idea to sound out a few of his targets BEFORE he let half a dozen players leave..........

You have a good point, but don't forget Plymouth were in Leaue 2 when he joined. His experiences since then may well have affected his judgement though!

They were also bottom of the then 3rd Division when he took over Plymouth.
