Fantastic perfomance by Paul Collingwood. A shoe in for Man of the match if ever I saw one. Tight bowling. Amazing run outs. 120 not out, hitting the winning runs. Fantastic. What a hero.

But having said that, the One day game is in a spot of bother if even the Aussies cant be bothered to turn up for the finals anymore. Something needs to be done to stop this form of the game becomming a complete joke. Endless games might go down well on Indian subcontinent TV, but for everyone else its a complete farce.

And it will continue to be so until they form some sort of world league where each of these ODI's actually count for something. To play endless games right up to the World Cup is simply a joke.  floghorse  Springs to mind. Its also a complete farce that the Aussies can win 9 ODI's on the trot and still loose the series. Not that il give a stuff about that on sunday.

A win on sunday would be a double bonus. Ausses gutted, and end the series as early as possible.

It's going to be tight.

McGrath creases me up.

McGrath is a cunt of the highest order, i dislike the bloke immensely.

Anyways:- Well done Colly, what a legend. I put the digital text on when i woke up expecting to see a hammering defeat but oh no it was something along the lines of "Collingwood ton earns England win in final"  Beers

Honestly, I saw McGrath outside the MCG and he was the most friendly and approachable international sportsman Ive ever seen.

You'd never believe it, but we came away after a 2 minute chat thinking what a top bloke. In fact, all the Australians seemed to like and respect the England fans more than the English players did!

What I try to think is. What would we think of Glenn McGrath if he was English? Working class farmer boy, honest, loyal to his fammily, aggressive on the field, plays the game 100% every game, fantastic bowler/legend of the game?

But of course he's an Aussie. So fuck him.

Beautiful.

I don't care if we lose the next 2 finals, at least we beat 'em.

i had to "watch" this on the internet and the page holding the score updates on the bbc website went down at the end of the 49th over. amateurs, as ian brown once said.

in response to spencer's point about one day cricket: i think there should be a boxing-style ranking system, whereby if you beat the best then you become the champions.

no really, i do.
