My lad bought me the Peel compliation CD for christmas and I've had Party Fears 2 running through my head virtually non-stop ever since.

I'm sure I've got a Paul Haig solo album on vinyl somewhere, probably m,y mum's loft. Heaven Sent....does that ring any bells

Well remember getting an Associates album (Perhaps? purple cover?) for my 16th birthday......and then seeing the Smiths at Oxford in the evening.  A long, long time ago....
