Good points Reg - I was thinking about the way we'd be playing also. Vincent isn't a 'getting forward' sort of full back, but Nicho is and reckon he could do that job if needs be. Jack Smith certainly can on the other side.
I listened to Sturrock's radio Sheffield interview and he mentions that Dave Allen criticised his defensive style - and he went on to say how he'd often play without wingers away from home and with only one winger at home - doing this he still managed to score a stack of goals.
We could see Weston put out to the right in that case, with pook and Evans in the middle - he's the one midfelder we could get double figures out of.
Bring on Carlisle.

I think people are getting a bit carried away by this goddamn pesky get out clause. If this supposed takeover at Wednesday was really that imminent then Sturrock would surely sit tight would he not? It would be more trouble than it was worth going to Swindon.
I would have been very happy with either Sturrock or Nijholt but on balance I think this is the best possible appointment we could have made and I am pleasantly surprised by it (assuming it does happen)

and apart from handcuffing them to the goal posts how exactly do we make a manager stay fatters?

I think people have got to realise that we as a club are always likely to be used as a stepping stone for managers to move on to bigger and better?! things - like Mr Wise.
Good appointment by the board (if it happens), however the role of the manager is beginning to become more like that of the player. There is little to no loyalty in footie anymore.
And Brian Laws is now Wednesday manager, so it could all work out fine in the end for us anyway.

As Walrus kinda says, us beggars cannot be choosers. Sturrock clause or no clause is the answer. We have just won promotion to League 1. Optimism rocks!!

even our board will have learned from the Wise thing. we don't want that clause where he goes to Wednesday for free. whether Sturrock accepts that or not remains to be seen

I can't help but think the discussions in the Board room, will have gone something like this....
Diamandis: 'Hey, wait, wait What does this say here?
Sturrock agent: Oh, that's the usual clause. That's in every contract. That says...'If any of the parties participating in this contract is shown not to be in their right mind, the entire agreement is automatically nullified'....That's in every contract...that's the insanity clause.
Diamandis "You can't fool me. There ain't no Sanity clause."
Apologies to the Marx brothers.
