how!? i would have thought from the video replays they'd have concluded there was no intent whatsoever.

2 games isn't that harsh really, even if he didn't mean it.

you can't ban him if he didn't mean it, if you stand on someones hand by accident is that a ban for stamping too?
and their 2 players were all over him just before the bollock-crushing.
recalling the replays the ref doesn't seem to be giving a card until rooney touched ronaldo, bizarre.

The whole incident was so ambiguous, he was never going to get let off.

Even if you don't mean to do something sometimes it still warrants some punishment. I think the worst of the punishment was being sent off for that particular game. Compared to some bans, this one wasn't as harsh as I thought it would be.
Personally, I think a yellow would have surficed, but considering he got the red he could have been banned for more games than 2.

It takes the piss, the Argies involved in the bust up against Germany have been punished with paltry fines and banned for a few games, surely what they did was worse?Maybe its just me,has to be said it was entertaining

When you consider Di Canio was banned for something like 11 games, for a pussy push on the ref, I don't think Rooney's ban is as bad as it could have been.
