Munroe for me. Like others have said, he was everywhere - and Jesus, can that boy jump for a header! He was immense.
Lots of players in the running again though to make MoM decisions harder than in recent seasons.
For me its the way he goes box to box with pace and he is a master of the sliding tackle, something you hardly see in football these days with the namby pamby young kids games where tackling is not encouraged. He is becoming our best LWB in years, the last one who played similarly for me was Dion Donohue and I think Munroe has surpassed him already. An all round player. |

He is becoming our best LWB in years, the last one who played similarly for me was Dion Donohue and I think Munroe has surpassed him already. An all round player.
My son and I were discussing this yesterday, and couldn’t remember who was a better LWB. |

Clarke because he got a goal and an assist for Drinan’s second goal and it was a beautiful pass from deep and is not one you see in league 2 very often, perfect weight, perfect distance on it and was literally what got us from back to front and I haven’t seen much appreciation on it, which is a shame. Also he could’ve had a brace when he bundled into the box and held off the defender to try and get a shot off while off balance, many players would’ve just tumbled and the keeper collected but Clarke held firm

Not sure its anything to do with encouragement or 'namby pamby' and more to do with the way that the rules of the game are interpreted by referees these days. Yes Munroe is a master of the sliding tackle, but as sure a night follows day he is likely to mistime one this season and I fear see a red card for it. Not trying to remotely suggest he shouldn't do it, but I suspect the more conservative nature of tackling for many young players is down to the way the rules are interpreted. Must be crap as a defender to basically know that you can't touch an attacking player, so many 'world class' player reputations these days seem to be based upon running fast at defenders waiting to be brushed against and then falling over. |

That is the crux of it. I don’t trust these league 2 referees not to be trigger happy and discern that there was no intent to get the ball if Munroe was to slide one time too many. He is a crucial player for this team and him potentially being sent off early doors in a big game could very well decide where we end up this season |
