Cycling lunacy

I know there are some cycling enthusiasts on here, so I thought some of you might be interested in follwing the exploits of my lad, who is currently part way through a ride from Sheffield to Singapore.

It's his dream trip that he's funding himself from savings he's built up slaving in call-centre hell, and TEFL in a language school in Taiwan.

He's also raising money for a few charities on the way:

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice offers care and support to children with a shortened life expectancy, both in their own homes and at the hospice in North Anston.

Great jobs  Lumps. I've been reading a lot of books about round the world charity cycles so this is very interesting

My boss' son did something similar, he planned on cycling to South Korea to teach english, but when he got there he decided to carry on cycling and made the round trip home.

More importantly I hope he is paying road tax in all the countries he is riding through.....

Seriously though fair play to him, you must be proud and worried in equal measure,  had a dream and followed it!

 A few years back a mate of mine decided to cycle round the world, he got as far as India, where he contracted some sort of dysentry like disease, so was forced to give up and come home...when I saw him in the pub, at first I didn't recognise him, as he'd actually shrunk in height by about 30%, and the rest was pretty wasted...this left a head, which I suppose was the same size but looked Mekonesque.  After a while the penny dropped it was him....one of the strangest things I've ever seen.  After a while he got back to full beer guzzling size.

I'm fine at the moment. I'll be slightly more concerned once he gets past Turkey, but he's planning on meeting up with another kiddie that's doing a similar trip in Istanbul and they'll do the iffy bit through the 'stans together.

Sounds like he's enjoying himself. Reminds me of this book I read years ago. Worth getting out from the library.
